A massive deployment of police force will be done in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar for the Durga puja celebrations, informed Police Commissioner S Debadatta Singh.
At a presser, Singh informed that this time the Commissionerate Police has come up with a special strategy with its core revolving around traffic regulations, control and streamlining of vehicular and non-vehicular traffic, crime prevention, awareness about cybercrime and security.
“Apart from proper traffic regulations, we will focus on checking petty crimes like chain snatching and others. Focus will also be given on fire and structural safety measures at puja pandals in the twin cities,” said Singh.
The Police Commissioner further informed that the puja organisers have been asked to deploy fire extinguishers and other measures. Not only Puja organisers, the general public should also abide by the regulations so that the festival is conducted in a smooth manner.
While divulging details on the deployment of the police force, the twin city Police Commissioner informed that 38 platoons of force will be deployed in Bhubaneswar and 64 platoons in Cuttack. This will be in addition to the deployment of the Central Armed Police Force.
Apart from this, around 200 officers of Commissionerate Police will be deployed and they will oversee that all measures are implemented on the ground, Singh added.
