Double murder rocks Koraput, police launch probe

In a shocking incident, two youths were allegedly murdered at Hatapada in Kunduli under Koraput’s Pottangi police limits on Wednesday morning.

As per reports, a youth from Tema village had gone to watch Ravana Podi at Kunduli on Tuesday night. While returning home in the morning, he reportedly had an altercation with another person at Hatapadar who allegedly attacked him with sharp weapons killing him on the spot.

After his death, the family of the deceased from Tema village reached the spot and subsequently attacked the assailant to avenge the death of their ward. In the process, the youth died as well.

While the exact reason behind the double murder is yet to be ascertained, tension prevailed at Hatapadar.

Adequate police force has been deployed at the spot to maintain law and order and prevent the situation from escalating further.

Koraput SP is too at present on the spot and is trying to pacify the agitators by engaging them in discussion.

Meanwhile, an investigation has been launched to ascertain the exact reason behind the dispute and subsequent deaths of two persons in the area.
