Doctors on bikes wade through stream to provide treatment to diarrhoea patients in Kandhamal
Going beyond the nature of their duty and propped by the attitude of service, a team of doctors along with the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) of Kandhamal district rode bikes on rocky roads and waded through knee-deep stream water to provide treatment to patients suffering from diarrhoea at some remote areas under Kotagarh block in the district on Wednesday.
As per reports, a couple of patients in Durgapanga gram panchayat have passed away after suffering from diarrhoea in the last three days. Three more diarrhoea patients are currently undergoing treatment at Kotagarh hospital. Diarrhoea has spread its tentacle in villages like Kanibaru, Sindhibali, Badipanga and Dimili. Similarly, three other patients have also died in the remote area after suffering from other diseases.
After being informed about the spread of the contagious disease, Kandhamal CDMO Dr Bijay Kumar Panda along with a team of doctors reached the remote areas by riding bikes on rocky roads and wading through knee-deep water of a stream to take stock of the situation and provide treatment to the patients.
“We reached the spot and took stock of the situation. Treatment was provided to all the affected patients. I think the problems could be solved by improving road communication in the area and providing proper drinking water facilities to the people,” said Kandhamal CDMO Dr Bijay Kumar Panda.
