Dispute over chicken farm led to murder in Jharasuguda; body thrown in river

A dispute over a chicken farm led to the murder of Shahjahan Khan at Beherapatra under Jharasuguda Sadar Police Station. The accused, Imran, allegedly threw the body in a river.

A dispute resulted in gunfire and death of a chicken farm owner late last night at Beherapatra under Jharasuguda Sadar Police Station. The accused reportedly threw the body in a river after committing the crime. 

The deceased has been identified as Shahjahan Khan, owner of a chicken farm in Mangalbazaar area in Jharsuguda.

As per sources, police have detained two persons in connection with the murder. Meanwhile, various teams including a dog squad, scientific team, and local police are actively investigating the case. However, the deceased’s body and the murder weapon are yet to be recovered. 

“The dispute was related to the chicken farm which led to the murder. The prime accused, Imran, is currently in police custody. Along with him, we are suspecting the involvement of another individual, who is also in our custody. We are tracing the routes the accused used to dispose of the body and one team has already been dispatched to collect CCTV footage,” said Smith P Parmar, SP, Jharsuguda.

“We have recovered their call records in order to pinpoint their location which will indicate their movements. Our primary focus now is to retrieve the body of the deceased and the murder weapon. We have formed many teams to cover different aspects of this case,” he added.
