Security checks intensified in Bhubaneswar
Commissionerate Police and other central forces intensified vigil in the wake up of threats to the ongoing DGP-IGP conference in Bhubaneswar. Night patrolling and vehicle checks were intensified on Saturday at various junctions in the Capital city.
The high-profile event is currently hosting some of the biggest dignitaries from across the country including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and NSA advisor, Ajit Doval.
Reports stated that heightened surveillance has been kept on several places and stretches leading from the Biju Patnaik International Airport and even covering other lanes and by-lanes in the city.
Sources mentioned that security checkpoints, blockades, and inspections have been set up at every intersection of the capital and every vehicle is being thoroughly inspected. Moreover, interrogation is also being carried out whenever necessary.
The drive is being undertaken by both central forces and the Commissionerate Police, with strict checking operations continuing throughout the night and expected to stay in force on Sunday.
Pannun reportedly sent audio and a threatening email to several journalists in Odisha yesterday warning of an attack and disrupting operations at Bhubaneswar International Airport on December 1.
Acting on the threat message, the Commisionerate Police, Intelligence wing of Odisha, SPG, and other agencies had sprung into action and beefed up security measures.
