Cuttack SCB medical rape case: Medical college principal directed to rusticate accused doctor

The Principal of SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, has been directed to rusticate Dr Thakur Dilbag Singh, a senior resident doctor in the Cardiology Department. This follows allegations of rape against him by two women patients.

The Principal of SCB Medical College and Hospital has been directed to rusticate the senior resident doctor of the Cardiology Department of the SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack who has been charged with raping two women patients, informed Santosh Kumar Mishra, Director of Medical Education and Training (DMET) on Thursday. 

The shameful incident came to light after a complaint was lodged at the Mangalabag Police Station accusing Dr Thakur Dilbag Singh of raping two patients. On August 13 evening, he was arrested. Subsequently, the Odisha Health Department constituted a three-member committee headed by Santosh Kumar Mishra, Director of Medical Education and Training (DMET).

“On the basis of the report of the inquiry committee, a letter has been submitted to the Principal of SCB Medical College and Hospital, asking him to rusticate the doctor (the accused),” said the DMET, adding that the investigation has corroborated the involvement of the accused doctor in the case. 

“No one had conspired to implicate him in the case,” clarified the DMET.
