Court awards lifer to ex-MLA Narayan Reddy, 13 others in 1998 reserve inspector murder case

According to sources, other than Reddy, the court has also awarded lifer to 13 other accused involved in the murder case.

In a major blow to former MLA from Chatrapur and CPI leader Narayan Reddy, the Additional District Judge-3, Ganjam has awarded life term to the former legislator on Monday in connection with the murder of a reserve inspector in 1998.

According to sources, other than Reddy, the court has also awarded lifer to 13 other accused involved in the murder case.

"The verdict is influenced by the government. General public and farmers do not get justice. I will move the higher court challenging the verdict," said Reddy after his conviction in the murder case.

In 1998, a clash broke out during a meeting at Sindh village. The protest was reportedly led by Reddy and his supporters.

A reserve inspector had died on the spot after a clash broke out during the protest.
