A couple was found hanging early this morning in their house in the Housing Board Colony area under Chandrasekharpur police station limits in Bhubaneswar. The deceased man has been identified as 30-year-old Kumar Jiten, an auto driver by profession, whereas the deceased woman is yet to be identified but is reportedly said to be his second wife.

Sources cited accounts from neighbours who stated that Jiten and the woman were engaged in a heated conversation last night and believed that it may have contributed to them taking the extreme step.

Reports also mentioned that the couple had left the door to their room open before allegedly hanging themselves, owing to which neighbours discovered their dead bodies and informed the police, which reached the spot and began a preliminary inquiry.

In a turn of events, authorities discovered conflicting reports about the marital status of Jiten and the woman. According to neighbours, Jiten had allegedly divorced his first wife and introduced the deceased woman as his second wife, who had also been previously married to someone else.

Meanwhile, Jiten’s employer asserted that the deceased woman lived with him, but the duo had not been married. He also added that the two frequently engaged in arguments and were also involved in a case of drunk driving and had been detained by Maitree Vihar police about a month ago.
