A shocking incident was reported from Mahadebsarai village under Basta police station limits in Balasore district, where a couple lost their lives after a wall collapsed on them while they were asleep. Their 12-year-old minor daughter sustained critical injuries and has been admitted to the hospital.

According to reports, the mishap occurred on Sunday night. One of the deceased has been identified as Pitha Murmu. Local residents said that incessant rains in recent days had weakened the kutcha house, causing the structure to subside. This eventually led to the wall collapsing on the couple while they were sleeping.

The collapse left the victims trapped under the debris for nearly two hours before locals managed to reach them. On discovering the incident, villagers immediately rushed to their rescue and called for an ambulance.

Delay In Reaching Hospital

The injured couple and their daughter were rushed to Basta Hospital in an ambulance. However, the vehicle was stuck for nearly half an hour due to a passing train on the route. On reaching the hospital, doctors declared the couple dead.

Allegations By Locals

Local residents have alleged that the delay in reaching the hospital cost the couple their lives. They claimed the victims were still breathing when they were pulled out of the debris, but could not be saved due to the wait en route.
