Complainant thrashed during inquiry for raising corruption allegations at Cooperative Society in Cuttack

A complainant was allegedly thrashed for bringing corruption allegations against the members of the managing committee of a Cooperative Society under Banki block in Cuttack district on Monday.

The victim has been identified as Prabhakar Sahu. Injured Prabhakar has lodged a complaint in this connection at Banki police station.

As per reports, some members of Ostia Cooperative Society, which is under the Central Cooperative Bank, had brought allegations of huge corruption in the society before the Chief Minister’s grievance cell.

Following the development, an investigation was undertaken at the office of the Assistant manager of Banki Coperative Department. However, the president of Ostia Cooperative Society Bharat Behera entered into the office forcefully with more than 10 supporters.

Subsequently, they thrashed a complainant Prabhakar Sahu. They also threw a chair at him. Prabhakar has sustained injuries in the process.

Following the development, Prabhakar lodged a complaint at Banki police station in this connection. However, no comments could be obtained from the accused and police in this regard.

“When I was complaining that my rice has not been procured, Bharat Behera and his supporters lost their cool and thrashed me,” said injured Prabhakar Sahu.

“When the inquiry was going on, Bharat Behera broke into the office and created disturbances,” said inquiry officer Saroj Jena.
