In a broad daylight crime, a college-going student was allegedly stabbed to death by three bike-borne miscreants in Rayagada district on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Pramod Kalka, a resident of Similiguda village of Sesakhal hata of Sadar block. Pramod was the nephew of former Zilla Parishad president Gangadhar Puala.

According to sources, Pramod was on his way back home on a scooter after dropping his cousin at school when three bike-borne miscreants waylaid him. Before Pramod could understand anything, the trio started attacking him with sharp weapons.

Pramod suffered fatal injuries in the attack and succumbed on the spot. Before the onlookers could catch the miscreants, they fled from the spot.

On being informed, the police reached the spot and initiated a probe into the matter.

It is suspected that the murder is a fallout of political enmity.

“An unidentified person was giving death threats to Pramod. He also informed me that someone was looking for an opportunity to kill me. Personal and political enmity is behind this incident. We will take adequate actions against the culprits,” said the uncle of Pramod.

Rashmiranjan Senapati, SDPO of Rayagada said, “We immediately reached the spot after receiving the news. We have initiated a thorough probe to nab the miscreants involved in the murder.”
