CM Mohan Majhi holds 10th public grievance hearing in Bhubaneswar

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday held his tenth public grievance hearing session that was conducted in a newly arranged chamber near Capital Nursery in Unit 2, Bhubaneswar. The hearing marked a continuation of his direct outreach to citizens, following a similar programme held in Sambalpur on April 21.

The Chief Minister had previously expressed his commitment to visiting various districts across the state to listen to public complaints and work towards their resolution. As part of this ongoing initiative, today’s session saw online registration by as many as 1,000 individuals.

Focus on Early Hours and Comfort Facilities

Taking into account the intense summer heat, the grievance hearing on Monday was decided to be held during the morning hours. Comprehensive arrangements were made to ensure comfort for attendees and officials alike. The new chamber was equipped with seating, fans, and coolers, along with provisions for drinking water and toilet facilities.

For today’s session, a dedicated section was arranged for divyang individuals to address their specific needs and ensure accessibility.

“My problem has not yet been resolved, even after meeting the Chief Minister during the first grievance hearing. I was working at an organisation but was removed from my job. When I met CM Mohan Majhi, I informed him about it, but the officials told me my issue could only be resolved after I won the court case I had filed against my previous employer. Now, despite winning the case, the problem still persists. The Chief Minister has once again assured me today that my issue will be resolved and I will be provided a job,” an individual told media persons.

Another individual stated, “We were given an assurance that our problem would be addressed. One of my legs was amputated. I work in the Home Guard department, but I did not even have enough money to buy my medications. I hope the Chief Minister honours his assurance and that my problem is finally resolved.”

Previous Public Grievance Hearing in Sambalpur

On April 21, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi conducted a public grievance hearing at the Sambalpur Municipal Corporation office. This was the first time the Chief Minister held such a hearing outside the state capital, Bhubaneswar.

The event drew a large crowd, with hundreds of residents gathering early in the morning to submit grievances related to land disputes, housing, healthcare, water supply, and infrastructure. Citizens were able to register their complaints both online and offline to ensure broad participation.

The district administration made extensive preparations to facilitate the event, which was attended by 13 senior IAS officers, including secretaries from key departments such as Home, Revenue, Housing & Urban Development, Health, and Family Welfare.
