In yet another incident of crime against girls and women in Odisha, a Class 10 girl was allegedly gang-raped in Kendrapara district on August 9.
The minor girl was allegedly gang-raped on Raksha Bandhan when she had gone to her aunt's house in Rajanagar.
As per the allegations, the survivor's drink was spiked and she was later gang-raped. Following a complaint, police detained at least five persons including the minor girl's aunt.
Though the Rajnagar Police Station IIC didn't divulge details about the incident, he informed that the questioning of the detained people are underway and further probe is underway.
This is the second such incident reported on Raksha Bandhan while the third case in last three days.
A 26-year-old man was arrested on Monday for allegedly abducting and raping a Class-9 girl in Balasore district. According to police, the incident occurred on Sunday afternoon when the girl was returning home on a cycle after attending tuition.
The accused from Antara village in the district stopped the girl on the way and forcefully took her to a lonely place near Barada Ranital canal area within Simulia police station limits and allegedly raped her.
A police team later reached the spot, arrested the man and admitted the girl to Simulia hospital. She was then shifted to Bhadrak district headquarters hospital. Till the last report came in, the survivor’s health condition was stable.
A case of an alleged gang-rape attempt on a minor girl was reported from Udala in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district. The incident took place on the day of Raksha Bandhan when three young men allegedly tried to attack the girl in a forest after finding her alone.
However, displaying remarkable courage, the girl struck one of the attackers, kicked them and managed to break free. She then informed her parents about the incident and later lodge a complaint with the local police.
Acting swiftly, police arrested all three accused and detained two minor boys for their suspected involvement on Sunday.
