Repair work of Chennai-New Jalpaiguri Train underway in Balasore
In an unexpected incident, the battery box of the engine fell off from one of the bogies of Chennai-New Jalpaiguri train at Sabira railway station in Balasore on Saturday.
The train was reportedly halted due to the incident. However, all the passengers are fortunately safe. As per reports, the battery box of the train engine fell off at the station when it was running from Chennai to New Jalpaiguri. Fortunately, the loco pilot of the train came to know about the incident and halted the train. As a result, lives of all the passengers were saved.
As per the latest report, the repair work of the battery box was going on and the train would move after the completion of the repair work.
“The battery box of the engine fell off at around 2.42 pm. It is an unusual and unfortunate incident,” the train will run as soon as the repair work is over,” said a loco pilot of the train.

“The train was moving in high speed when the battery of the engine fell off. Thanks to the loco pilot that he knew about the situation and pressed the emergency brake. Because of his alertness and presence of mind, lives of all the passengers were saved,” said a passenger from New Jalpaiguri.
Earlier in December 2024, at least two people died and two others were critically injured after being hit by a goods train at the Kalunga railway crossing in Rourkela.
The accident took place at around 10 PM when the four youths were crossing the railway tracks on two separate motorbikes, unaware of the incoming of a goods train. While two of them died on the spot, two others were found in critical condition.
