CDA to be freehold, official notification soon: Cuttack MLA Sofia Firdous

In good news for the home buyers, leasehold land under Cuttack Development Authority (CDA) will become freehold, informed local MLA Sofia Firdous on Monday.

According to Firdous, the Odisha government had earlier approved the proposal for the conversion of leasehold land to freehold in housing projects built by development authorities such as the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) and CDA.

The path to converting leasehold land to freehold is a significant step towards resolving multi-layered property disputes and empowering residents with full ownership rights. The residents and business owners within the Cuttack Development Authority (CDA) jurisdiction are set to benefit from a transformative property rights scheme.

“Already BDA has started, but it was not done in Cuttack. Today, the Tehsildar informed that the bulk of the work has been completed and soon notification will be issued after a joint meeting. Once it is done, the home buyers can get their property converted into freehold,” said Firdous after a meeting with the Tehsildar.

During the review, Barabati-Cuttack MLA informed that a lot of people are not getting important documents like legal heir certificates on time.

“Despite the provision of 45 days, people are not getting on time. A healthy discussion was held with the Tehsildar and a SOP will be prepared in this regard.
