Caught on camera: 1 killed, 2 injured in hit-and-run case in Odisha’s Bhawanipatna
A person was killed and two others sustained critical injuries after a speeding pickup van mowed them down at Rishi village near Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Rehmatullah Khan, while the identities of the injured are yet to be ascertained.
According to sources, the mishap took place when the trio was talking while standing along Bargarh-Borigumma road when suddenly a speeding pick-up van hit them from behind and fled from the spot. The entire incident has been captured in the CCTV cameras installed in the area.
While one of the three persons died on the spot, two others sustained critical injuries in the mishap. The injured were rushed to Bhawanipatna Medical College for treatment, sources informed.

While the heart-wrenching visuals of the accident have left many disturbed, doubts linger over whether this was a mere accident or the driver hit them intentionally to eliminate them.
As seen in the CCTV footage, three people were leisurely talking while standing near the edge of the road. Out of nowhere, a speeding pickup van appears, racing down the road at high speed. Without any warning, the vehicle veers off course and crashes into the three individuals. Soon after the mishap, the pickup van speeds off, fleeing the scene.

Meanwhile, the police have started an investigation into the matter. No comments from the police could be obtained over the matter.
