Businessman carrying Rs 7.5 lakh cash kidnapped in Odisha’s Koraput

A dry fruits businessman hailing from Paduwa village under Boipariguda police station in Koraput was allegedly kidnapped on Saturday night after being forced out of his car near Patraput bridge of the district.

As per sources, the man, identified as Kaya Satya, was returning alone from Jeypore to Paduwa after completing a deal and collecting cash amounting to Rs 7.5 lakhs. However, during that period, he was allegedly abducted near Kota Junction late at night on a deserted stretch of the road.

By the morning, locals grew suspicious of the abandoned vehicle and subsequently informed the authorities. In the meantime, Satya’s family members also lodged a missing complaint with the police after he failed to answer their calls.

As per the latest updates, however, the man reportedly managed to ring up his family members sometime late this morning and informed them that he was being held hostage at a place in Motu of Malkangiri district.

Till the last reports came in, the businessman’s family reiterated that the kidnappers had not made any attempts to contact them nor had there been any demands for a ransom. Moreover, after that one call, they failed to establish further contact with Satya.

Subsequently, Boipariguda police have now launched an investigation into the matter but stated that additional details as well as the nature and motive of the crime will only be revealed after the completion of a preliminary probe.
