Indian Army jawan from Odisha shoots himself dead in Jammu & Kashmir, blames wife

In a tragic incident, an Indian Army jawan from Odisha ended his life while on duty in Jammu & Kashmir.

The deceased has been identified as Suresh Biswal, a native of Malpura village under Kamakhyanagar police limits in Dhenkanal district, though he was residing in Anantapur.

According to reports, Suresh, who had been serving in the Indian Army for the past 15 years, returned home on leave nine days ago and had recently gone back to his posting in Jammu & Kashmir. On Monday evening, while on duty, he reportedly sent a message to his mother, explaining the reason for his decision, and then spoke to her over the phone. During the call, he used his service rifle to shoot himself.

In his final message, Suresh allegedly held his wife, younger brother, and in-laws responsible for his death. The Indian Army has informed his family about the incident, and his mortal remains are expected to reach Kamakhyanagar tomorrow.

Suresh’s mother, Kadambini Biswal, claimed that strained relations between her elder daughter-in-law and elder son, as well as disputes between the elder daughter-in-law and the younger son, drove Suresh to take the extreme step.

Suresh is survived by his wife and a seven-year-old daughter.
