Police got a breakthrough in the illegal drug peddling case and arrested two peddlers while seizing 522 gms of brown sugar from their possession in Puri on Wednesday. 

The seized brown sugar was approximately valued at Rs 50 lakh.
 
Addressing a presser, Puri SP Pinak Mishra said that the Sea Beach Police station received information about the drug dealing near Talabania helipad. A team of police raided the place and arrested two drug dealers. However, the customers managed to flee.

Police seized 522 gm of brown sugar, two bikes, and two cell phones.

The SP further said that an investigation into the matter is underway.

“We will investigate their forward and backward linkage -- who others are involved in it and from where the two were procuring the banned substance. Their distribution network is under scanner. The two will be thoroughly interrogated,” the SP said, adding that police will carry on their efforts to make Puri free from drug peddling.
