Deputy CM Pravati Parida visiting Bonda Ghati
The tribal beneficiaries in Bonda Ghati of Malkangiri district will get additional housing assistance of Rs 50,000 as the construction cost in the region has escalated. Around 2,932 applications earlier received for assistance under the ‘Subhadra’ scheme will be reconsidered, Deputy CM Pravati Parida said on Friday.
The Deputy CM recently visited Bonda Ghati to evaluate the progress of the ‘Subhadra Yojana’ and ‘Grameen Awas Yojana’ initiatives. During her visit, she engaged with residents and addressed issues on these government schemes.
According to official sources, in response to concerns regarding the rising construction costs, the Deputy CM announced that an additional Rs 50,000 would be allocated to each family eligible under the housing scheme in Bonda Ghati.
The Deputy CM also acknowledged the issues relating to the ‘Subhadra’ initiative, where 2,932 applications were previously rejected. She promised that these cases would undergo a reassessment, with government officials conducting home visits to resolve the matters.
“Chief Minister had visited the district during Malyabanta Mahotsav. He said that Bonda Ghati residents are facing difficulties in carrying house construction materials and are working hard. As they are meeting more expenses, they are not able to construct houses. For that, the State government will provide additional assistance of Rs 50,000 to them,” the Deputy CM said to media persons.
Speaking regarding an alleged underperformance of the ‘Subhadra’ scheme, the Deputy CM stated, “I have already instructed the District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) to look into the matter and also had a discussion with the Collector. The welfare scheme will reach every household.”
