Miscreants hurled two bombs at the police in Berhampur when they were trying to force open a door during a raid on Wednesday.

As per reports, the Badabazaar Police in Berhampur had registered an FIR over a complaint of bombing on a house in Laxminrusingha Sahi. After getting a tip off on the miscreants’ hideout, the police raided a house at Srikhetra Vihar in the silk city.

When the police tried to break open the door, the miscreants hurled two bombs at them. The policemen escaped unhurt after the bombs exploded inside the room.

The police detained five persons including two women from the house for questioning over the bombings.

Speaking about the incident, Berhampur SP, Saravana Vivek M said, “The Badabazaar Police received a bombing complaint today. When a police team tried to reach the accused they hurled bombs at them. Not only bombs, the police team also heard gun shots from the house.”

Later, a crude bomb was recovered by the police search party during investigation, which exploded while handling that injured a police official.
