Body of Bhubaneswar Plus 2 student found under bridge in Cuttack Kathajodi

The lifeless body of a Plus 2 student was recovered from the Katahjodi River bank under the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Bridge in Cuttack on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Prateek Das of Niladri Vihar in Bhubaneswar.

The minor boy was reportedly missing since yesterday. His family members had launched an extensive search to trace him but in vain. Locals spotted his body under the bridge and informed the police following which he was identified.

Relatives of the deceased stated that Das had left the house last morning but never returned. Frantic calls made to him also went unanswered until about 10:30 pm after which his phone was reportedly switched off.

The boy was staying with one of his relatives in Bhubaneswar. After he did not answer calls, family members traced his phone’s last location to the City Garden apartment blocks in the Raghunathpur area.

The relative also added that Das took an Uber to Cuttack, as per logs found in his phone. However, despite searching till late in the night yesterday, he was unable to be located.

“We are clueless about how and why he came to Cuttack. We do not have any information about any issues; he may be having or why he took the extreme step and only his parents may be able to shed light on the matter,” stated the relative with whom the boy was staying.

Meanwhile, Markat Nagar police reached the spot and began a probe into the matter but did not offer any comments on the matter. Till the last reports, the cause and manner of death of the boy remains uncertain.
