Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued a stop-work notification to an under-construction apartment in Bhubaneswar.
As per reports, BMC Commissioner has issued the notification to Paltronics Allied Industries Private Limited to stop the construction of a Multistorey Apartment in Patia area.
As per sources, the land was provided in lease for industrial purpose. However, an apartment is allegedly being built on the land illegally by changing the ‘kisam’ of the land.
As per BMC sources, the matter will be taken up seriously if the concerned company violates the order issued through the notification and if required, the place will be sealed.
As per reports, as many as six apartment blocks are being constructed on five acres of land in the area. BMC gave permission for the construction of the apartment on January 2, 2024.

On the other hand, the General Administration Department has ordered Bhubaneswar Tehsildar to change the ‘kisam’ of the land and make necessary corrections in the land patta.
However, no reaction could be obtained from the company about the BMC notification.
Earlier, Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana Das had said that illegal constructions in Bhubaneswar would be demolished.
According to Das, there are several housing projects which have come up on agricultural land. In several places, builders have sold property and there is no control over several aspects including encroachment on drainage channels which were earlier part of panchayat.
“Once the BMC receives any formal directive from the Odisha government, necessary steps will be taken in this regard,” Das said.
