BJD will be history & BJP will rule Odisha for 50 years: Assam Chief Minister

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, visiting Puri, predicts an end to BJD's history in Odisha, foreseeing BJP dominance for 50 years.

The BJD is destined to come to an end, said Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in Puri on Thursday. 

Sarma, who is in Odisha on a two-day visit, arrived in Bhubaneswar today and proceeded straight to Puri to pay his obeisance to Lord Jagannath and his siblings in Srimandir

While replying to the queries of journalists in Puri, Sarma said “BJD’s history will come to an end.”

“The (BJP) government is doing well. BJP will be in Odisha for the next 50 years. There is nothing to worry about,” he said.

On Bangladeshi infiltrators, he said the National Register of Citizens (NRC) will go a long way in checking those infiltrators. We have implemented in Assam. To get an Aadhaar card, one’s name must be in the NRC. From, this it will be easy to differentiate between who is an Indian and who is an infiltrator, he added. 

BJD MLA Dhruba Sahu hit back and said, “In these six months, it has been noticed that BJP has failed to run the government. The mango kernel and child sale issues, which were history, have resurfaced, with such incidents happening every day.”

MLA Sahu advised the Assam Chief Minister to safeguard his history instead of worrying about our history.

Notably, a new Badminton High Performance Centre will be inaugurated at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his Odisha counterpart Mohan Majhi will attend the event. Sarma is the president of the Badminton Association of India. 

It is expected that the high-performance centre will cater to athletes' training needs offering modern equipment and expert guidance. Recent upgrades include eco-friendly initiatives, better spectator seating and advanced digital displays.  

Worth mentioning, the Kalinga Stadium is a premier sports complex of the State, known for its world-class facilities.
