Will the organisational secretary of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), Pranab Prakash Das throw his hat into the ring from the Sambalpur Lok Sabha seat? This question has set the political circles abuzz with speculations about such a possibility after BJD leader and Rairakhole MLA, Rohit Pujari dropped some broad hints.

Pujari’s hint came amid speculations that Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan may fight the Lok Sabha election from the Sambalpur Parliamentary seat.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, the BJD legislator said, “We will be happy if an efficient organiser of the party like Pranab Prakash Das comes to Sambalpur to fight the election.  It will be a welcome step.  Chief Minister has assigned him as party’s organisational secretary given his organizational skills.”

He also added that a decision to this effect cannot be taken by the party leaders, but such a step will always be welcomed.

“If the party organization secretary contests from Sambalpur, the party will not only win in seven Assembly segments but also will win the Assembly seats in the neighbourhood,” the legislator asserted.

Reacting to Pujari’s statement, Rengali legislator of the Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP), Nauri Naik observed that such statements by the BJD legislator are aimed at garnering the limelight and being at the centre of political discussion. “People of Sambalpur and the entire western Odisha have faith in the BJP. We will win the Sambalpur Lok Sabha seat as well as all the seven Assembly segments,” the BJP leader asserted.
