BJD Leader Nrusingha Sahu
The BJD itself drove the final nail in the party’s coffin, said party leader Nrusingha Sahu about the party’s debacle in the 2024 general elections.
Since the drubbing of the party, senior leaders have been coming up with possible reasons that proved detrimental to the party. After former Paradip MLA Sambit Routray and former Choudwar-Cuttack MLA Pravat Biswal, Sahu is the latest one to spew venom at the party for its way of functioning.
“There were rats in many places that caused the party’s debacle. What we realized, is that in many places, BJD people played a pivotal role in ensuring the defeat of BJD people. What proved detrimental to us is that many BJD people worked less for garnering votes for party leaders, and more for their defeat,” said Sahu.
“There are other factors as well. After remaining in power for a longer period, leaders become a bit lazy, self-centred, disoriented, and a bit overconfident. It is a factor but not the sole factor for the party’s loss,” he added.
No reactions were received from the BJD.
Earlier, former Paradip MLA Sambit Routray had said there are rats that caused the shocking defeat of the party. Similarly, former Choudwar-Cuttack MLA Pravat Biswal saw anti-incumbency as the party’s dismal show in the last elections. BJD corporator Amaresh Jena had also ascribed the party’s flop show to a ‘Vibhishana’ inside the party.
