The 5T storm seems to have hit the State. In a recent development, expressing his dissatisfaction over alleged sub-standard work under the 5T initiative of the Odisha government, Umerkote MLA and BJP leader Nityananda Gond lost his cool during DISHA meeting and left it midway.
The meeting was conducted at the Mission Shakti hall in Nabarangpur to review various developmental works undertaken in the district.
As per reports, Union minister Bishweswar Tudu had ordered to remove the 5T information board installed on the Oxygen plant on the premises of the Nabarangpur District Headquarters Hospital on June 24.
However, the move didn’t go down well with Dabugaon MLA Manohar Randhari. The BJD MLA asked why the board was removed and by whom it was ordered in the meeting. When all the representatives of BJD supported Randhari, Gond lost his cool. Subsequently, expressing his resentment about the undergoing low quality work under 5T, the BJP leader left the meeting midway.
“Along with various problems of the district, there should be discussion whether various Central schemes are implemented properly or not in the meeting. However, controversy was raised over removal of 5T board in the meeting,” said Gond.
“The Centre is providing funds for implementation of various schemes in the State. However, when a Union Minister visited Odisha recently, he found 5T boards everywhere. The oxygen plan has been established with funds provided by the Union government. However, BJD is taking all the credit for it by fixing 5T boards on it,” he added.
Meanwhile, Nabarangpur MP and BJD leader Ramesh Majhi said that the incident is quite unfortunate and it should not have happened.
“There were disturbances in the meeting over certain issues. I had requested everybody to conduct the meeting within agenda. But the MLA left the meeting midway with the allegation that nobody is supporting him. I had requested him personally not to leave the meeting, but he didn’t pay heed,” said Majhi.
