Bijoy Mohapatra
Senior leader Bijoy Mohapatra on Friday took a swipe at the BJP government over sending two controversial IPS officers-DS Kutey and Ashish Singh-on central deputation.
Alleging a deal was behind the two IPS officers being sent on central deputation, Mohapatra demanded a clarification from Chief Minister Mohan Majhi.
Addressing a presser, Mohapatra said, “The Chief Minister should come out with a clarification because he is the Minister of the concerned department. He had given their names in the offer list received from the centre. He has also submitted no objection certificates.
It means they don’t have any allegations against them. I think this incident is rare in Odisha. The moot question is how such a huge irregularity took place.”
State BJP general secretary Jatin Mohanty hit out at Mohaptra, saying IAS and IPS officers are all India service officers and if they (IPS officers duo) want to go on deputation they will apply and the central government will take a decision accordingly.
“IAS and IPS officers have a service code. As per the code, those who want to go on deputation, can opt for it. They can express their wish that they want to go on deputation. If they desire to go on central deputation, the central government then considers their applications and decides their posting. This happened in their (DS Kutey and Ashish Singh) case as well. There is no necessity to punish any officer without any conclusive proof. Our government will never do this,” said Mohanty.
