Bhubaneswar Railway Station
The body of an unidentified youth, estimated to be around 30 years old, was discovered in the toilet of the Purushottam Express near Bhubaneswar railway station on Saturday morning. The Government Railway Police (GRP) recovered the body and launched an investigation.
Sources said the body was found during routine maintenance when cleaning staff entered the coach toilet after the train’s arrival. The staff immediately alerted senior officials, prompting the GRP and Railway Protection Force (RPF) to rush to the spot.
A forensic team was also called in to examine the coach and collect evidence before the body was sent for further procedures.
As of the last reports, the GRP has not yet confirmed the identity of the deceased. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the cause and time of death.
Officials said missing person complaints from nearby areas are being cross-checked, while CCTV footage from Bhubaneswar railway station is also being scrutinised to trace the youth’s last movements.

The case has drawn attention as it comes barely weeks after a similar incident at Bhubaneswar railway station. Earlier this month, the body of a youth was found in a locked toilet of the Bhubaneswar–Delhi Duronto Express while the train was stationed at the washing line.
The deceased in that case was identified as Shiv Kumar, a resident of Uttar Pradesh. He had been found in the B-3 coach.
Meanwhile, the GRP police officials have said that an investigation into the incident is underway and all possible angles, including accident, self-harm, or foul play, are being examined.
