Bhubaneswar MP’s missing name from inaugural plaque triggers tension

The inauguration of a new public toilet facility in Bhubaneswar has sparked a dispute among local residents after the name of local Member of Parliament (MP) was found missing on the commemorative plaque.

The facility which was inaugurated near Kasturba School in Ward 37, was unveiled with only the name of the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), Ananta Narayan Jena, featuring prominently. However, the name of Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi was found missing in the inaugural plaque.

Meanwhile, the exclusion of Bhubaneswar MP’s name from the plaque has drawn significant criticism from the community, resulting in protests.  Expressing displeasure over the matter, some residents have defaced the MLA's name on the plaque using black paint.
