A purported video of corporator Arup Narayan Rout alias Jeevan Rout dancing with a gun is fast circulating on social media.

The incident triggered concerns as it is the festive season and the likelihood of a spurt in criminal activities is high.

However, when contacted, Rout ruled out that he did not carry a gun. “It was a wooden plank in the shape of a gun,” he clarified.

“Yesterday, an immersion procession was being taken out. In the crowd, some followers passed on that gun-shaped wooden plank. Had I figured out its shape, I would have never held it. My conspirators are behind in making the video viral,” he said.
