Om Birla calls for SC/ST welfare, equal opportunities
The two-day national conference of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Parliamentary Committee, which began yesterday in Bhubaneswar, concluded with a valedictory session on Saturday.
On the second day, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla addressed the gathering, stating that the Bhubaneswar Agenda-2025 has been prepared for the welfare of the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes. He emphasized that by 2047, the dream of Babasaheb Ambedkar must be realized.
Birla said that all government welfare schemes must effectively reach SC/ST communities. He described the Parliamentary Committee as a 'mini Parliament' that studies and reviews whether budget allocations are truly benefiting these communities and whether the younger generation of SCs and STs is receiving equal opportunities.

Highlighting the importance of education, the Speaker noted that both the Central and State governments are allocating separate funds to ensure educational access for SC/ST students. He further stressed that similar Parliamentary Committees should be established in every State Assembly to monitor proper implementation and outcomes.
"Let it be Modi Ji's government in the Centre or the state governments, all the governments are trying so that the maximum benefits of all the government schemes will reach the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes. The Parliamentary Committees of the Centre and the states review the government schemes, budget allocations, constitutional rights of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes at regular intervals to ensure that the benefits of the government schemes reach them properly," said Birla.
