Bharatpur Police Station custodial torture case
As many as four more police officials suspended in the alleged custodial torture of an Army Major and his fiancee at the Bharatpur Police Station in Bhubaneswar will undergo a polygraph test.
As per reports, the Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) Court has given permission in this regard. The Court has given permission for polygraph tests of one SI and two ASIs. Apart from them, another cop present at the police station on the night of September 15 will also undergo the polygraph test.
The polygraph test will be conducted in Gujarat. However, the polygraph test of the suspended constable will not be conducted.
The development came after the Odisha Crime Branch sought permission from the court to conduct the test as part of the ongoing investigation into the alleged custodial assault.
Earlier, the court had also given permission for the polygraph test of the suspended inspector-in-charge Dinakrushna Mishra.
“Crime Branch had sought permission from the court for the polygraph test of four cops including three accused and one police SI. Permission has been granted for polygraph test of all of them,” said government lawyer A Chand.
