The names of the Army Major and his fiancee cannot be published by electronics, print or social media, directed Orissa High Court on Monday.

The Court came up with such a direction while hearing a Public Interest Litigation. The High Court had taken Suo Motu cognizance of the incident that happened at Bharatpur police station.

The Orissa High Court has expressed concern over the Bharatpur incident. The Court will not interfere in the matter as the AG has informed that the state government has ordered for a Judicial Inquiry into the matter.

The Odisha government has informed the Court regarding the suspension of five police officials and Crime Branch is also investigating the matter. The High Court will ensure that all facilities are available at police stations.

Apart from this, the Orissa High Court also directed ADG (Modernisation) to submit a status report on CCTV cameras at police stations across the state.

Amicus Curiae has also been appointed in this regard by the Orissa High Court.
