In a significant development in the Bharatpur ‘custodial assault’ case, the mother of the lady officer who was allegedly bitten by the major’s fiancée has lodged a petition in the Orissa High Court alleging the latter defied the court’s direction.

It can be recounted that the Orissa High Court had on September 23 issued a directive prohibiting the use of the names of the Army major and his fiancée in electronic, print, or social media.

The lady cop’s mother in her petition alleged that when the directive was in force, how the victim gave an interview to a national TV channel where she not only revealed her identification but also gave negative statements against the policemen, portraying them as culprits when the investigation is still underway.

She further alleged in her petition that their right to privacy has been hampered.

She requested the court to take action against the victim for disobeying the court's direction and take note of her hampering their right to privacy by giving an interview to the channel.

Sources said she will mention her petition on Monday and expected that it will be heard on November 3, the next hearing date.
