Bhubaneswar Railway Station to get elevated roadway flyover like Delhi airport
The Bhubaneswar Railway Station is poised for a substantial transformation as part of the Amrit Bharat Station Yojana
. This expansive enhancement plan aims to update the station's infrastructure significantly to benefit commuters and improve traffic flow.
The major railway station in Odisha is gearing up for a transformative upgrade that will include the introduction of an elevated roadway, providing a futuristic approach to station entry and exit. The construction of the elevated roadway flyover is designed for maximum commuter convenience.
Passengers will enter at the upper level of this flyover and exit at the lower level, enhancing the ease of movement through the station complex. This design promises to streamline the movement of passengers and reduce congestion within the station’s vicinity.
Collaboration and Land Expansion
To facilitate the project's progress, the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) is actively collaborating with the railway authorities. This partnership aims to procure additional land necessary for these large-scale developments. An elevated roadway will facilitate easy access from Master Canteen Chhak to the railway station, thereby reducing travel hassles for daily commuters.
Parking Facilities for Enhanced Accessibility
The BDA is also working closely with railway officials to develop dedicated parking facilities within the station area. This initiative is expected to significantly increase convenience for travellers, providing efficient parking solutions directly on the premises.
Air-Concourse Connectivity
A significant addition is the air-concourse system, designed to connect the station's six platforms directly, thereby eliminating the conventional foot overbridges. This modern feature will offer passengers swift and easy movement across platforms.
Enhanced Passenger Amenities
The modernisation will not only focus on infrastructure but also on enhancing passenger comfort. Planned facilities include lifts, escalators, baggage security checks, and conveniently placed information centres and waiting halls. The station will also host a food plaza and several retail stalls, enriching the overall travel experience.
Collaborative Effort
The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has been working closely with Indian Railways to ensure the seamless execution of this comprehensive project. The engineering team is optimistic about meeting the completion target set for August next year.
This significant development promises to bolster the station's capacity and streamline operations, aligning with the broader goal of improving India's railway infrastructure.
