Balasore BJP leader out on morning walk attacked over suspected political enmity

A BJP leader sustained critical injuries after he was allegedly attacked with a sharp weapon while out on a morning walk in Balasore district on Tuesday.

Lokanath Rout, the vice-chairman of Soro municipality, sustained critical injuries in the attack which was reportedly carried out by two unidentified miscreants.

He was initially admitted to Soro Hospital in critical condition. Later, he was shifted to Balasore Hospital as his condition deteriorated.

As per reports, Lokanath was out on a morning work when two bike-borne miscreants attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon. Loknath was grievously injured in the attack. Subsequently, the miscreants fled from the spot immediately.

Locals rushed him to the nearby hospital and later he was shifted to Balasore hospital where he is currently undergoing treatment.

It was suspected that the miscreants attacked Lokanath due to political enmity.

While Lokanath was a former Councillor, his wife is currently occupying the same position.
