During Cyclone Dana, a woman in Odisha delivered a healthy baby boy. The family plans to name him after the cyclone, celebrating amidst the storm's challenges.

After being safely evacuated and admitted to a hospital ahead of Cyclone Dana's landfall, a woman gave birth to a baby boy in an area hospital, Dhusuri of Odisha's Bhadrak district. The baby was safely delivered, and both the mother and the newborn were in good health. As the baby was born during Cyclone Dana, family members plan to name him after the cyclone.

“We are planning to name him Dana. We were worried about the cyclone, but we are on cloud nine now after the delivery,” a relative said. 

A few hours back, another woman from Cuttack’s Niali also delivered a baby boy at a hospital.

“We received a call to get admitted to the hospital due to the cyclone. Later in the day I went into labour and delivered a baby boy. He is healthy, around 3.80kg. It was a normal delivery. As he was born during the cyclone, family members are planning to name him ‘Dana’,” informed the newborn’s mother.

A relative echoed the same feelings and said, “It is a boy. He was born around 10:15 AM. Since he was born during Cyclone Dana, we have made up our minds to name him after the cyclone. We are very happy with the new member of our family.”

When contacted, the medical officer said, “The best of health services is being provided to the baby. They were admitted yesterday and the mother delivered the baby. It was a normal delivery. Both the baby and the mother are doing well and healthy. We also have administered vaccine.”

Worth mentioning that at least 4421 pregnant women, in view of the cyclone, were admitted to hospitals in Odisha, where they are getting good healthcare.
