Ayushman Bharat in Odisha in FY 2024-25; old health cards to be replaced: Minister

The Ayushman Bharat healthcare scheme is on track to be rolled out in Odisha in the financial year 2024-25. Alongside this, the Gopabandhu Arogya Yojana health insurance cards will be introduced, bringing promising benefits to citizens across the State, Odisha Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling said on Monday.

The Health Minister indicated that, in its initial rollout, approximately 3.5 crore people in Odisha will benefit from this health insurance scheme. A budgetary allocation of around Rs 3.5 Thousand Crore has been earmarked to support the initiative. The ‘Head of Account’ has undergone revisions, and previous health cards will be replaced.

The scheme is expected to be implemented in about 27,000 medical facilities, with a specific emphasis on benefiting migrant workers. This was highlighted by the Health Minister during the announcement.

“We will implement Ayushman Bharat Yojana and Gopabandhu Arogya Yojana in the coming financial year and all preparations are in place. The modalities have already been finalised with the government of India,” the Health Minister said media persons.

“The 27,000 health facilities across the country excluding Delhi and West Bengal, since those two have not yet implemented Ayushman Bharat Yojana. However, we will empanel some of the major hospitals in Delhi and West Bengal for the purpose,” the Minister stated.

People of Odisha will not face any difficulty with regard to healthcare, the Minister added.
