Ambitious 'Tri-City' encompassing Bhubaneswar-Cuttack-Puri soon

The Odisha government has announced an ambitious plan to create a 'Tri-City' encompassing Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Puri. Housing and Urban Development Minister, Krushna Chandra Mohapatra stated that an official declaration of this tri-city status will be made in the near future.

The state's plan involves expanding the cities through a comprehensive Town Planning scheme. This scheme includes the establishment of a dedicated department, along with specific timelines for various development projects. Offices will be set up to ensure effective management and oversee the planning. Unregulated activities within city limits will be prohibited as part of the structured approach, the Minister said.

Adhering to existing policies and regulations, the cities of Cuttack, Berhampur, and Rourkela will undertake several town planning schemes aimed at systematic expansion. The Minister emphasised Bhubaneswar's design as a planned city, assuring there will be no unplanned developments.

Meanwhile, similar planning efforts will be initiated across other urban areas in the state to efficiently manage future growth, backed by increased office resources.
