Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra
Odisha Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra on Sunday announced that all kharif paddy across the state will be procured by June 30. The Minister informed that the state government aims to procure 18 lakh metric tonnes of paddy during the kharif season.
Minister Patra emphasized that the procurement process is currently in full swing and that the government’s top priority is to ensure that no farmer’s token lapses.
Addressing concerns raised by farmers over procurement issues, especially during the ongoing monsoon rains, the Minister acknowledged that there had been repeated complaints.

In some areas, farmers who had received procurement tokens were reportedly turned away due to lack of target allocation. Responding to these issues, Minister Patra assured that Odisha government is actively working to resolve all problems and complete the procurement process smoothly by the end of this month.
"Paddy procurement will be completed by the end of this month. Around 95 per cent procurement process has been completed so far. We are fully completing our target. The state government has set a target to procure 18 lakh metric tonnes of paddy during the kharif season. The target was 74 lakh metric tonnes in the last kharif season," said Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra.
"We are fully completing our target. Our purpose is to ensure that no farmer’s token lapses and no farmer should suffer," he added.
