The Odisha government has assured that no ration cards will be canceled abruptly, informed Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra while providing key updates on the ongoing e-KYC process and ration card distribution on Sunday.

According to the Minister, 30.73 lakh beneficiaries have yet to complete their e-KYC verification. A detailed assessment of the pending cases will be conducted after March 31, following which field visits will be undertaken to determine the reasons for non-compliance with the deadline for e-KYC verification.

The Odisha government aims to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries receive their due entitlements without unnecessary disruptions. In terms of new ration card applications, 6.35 lakh people have already applied through the online portal, and the survey process to verify their eligibility is currently underway.

The survey is expected to be completed by April 15, after which new ration cards will be issued to the identified beneficiaries, informed the Minister.

To further streamline the process, the government has launched a new portal, which has already received 50,000 applications for fresh ration cards. This initiative aims to improve efficiency and accessibility for eligible individuals seeking ration benefits.

The state government remains committed to ensuring food security for its citizens, with continued support from both central and state authorities.
