Police administration is generally entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining law and order. However, in a rare act of camaraderie, Padua police station in Koraput district recently turned into a marriage mandap with the cops manning the station playing matchmakers and solemnising the marriage of a young couple.
Rabindra Chalan reportedly tied the nuptial knot with his ladylove Manjula Hantal on the premises of the police station.
As per reports, both Rabindra and Manjula were in a love relationship. After Rabindra gave marriage assurance to Manjula, both of them ran away from their houses some days back. However, Rabindra didn’t keep his promise and fled away by leaving Manjula alone on the outskirts of their village.
Following the development, Manjula and her family members filed a written complaint about the matter at Padua police station on June 22 and sought the intervention of the officials. Subsequently, Padua police held Rabindra and detained him at the police station.
After initiating a discussion with the family members of Rabindra and Manjula and some locals, police managed to convince them for the marriage.
Subsequently, the marriage was solemnised peacefully and both the families are now happy. Some local people also graced the occasion and blessed the couple in presence of the police officials.
Local residents have praised the police for their out-of-the-box solution to the complicated matter.
