4-year-old boy killed, his parents and sister-in-law critical in tragic road mishap

A tragic incident on Ghasian-Larambha road claimed the life of 4-year-old Jeet Bariha, with his parents and sister-in-law critically injured after their two-wheeler hit a truck. Police are investigating.

The truck involved in the accident

A four-year-old boy lost his life while three others, including his parents, sustained critical injuries after their two-wheeler crashed into a truck on the Ghasian-Larambha road near Patnagarh in Bolangir district this morning.

Sources reported that the toddler, identified as Jeet Bariha of Bilaisathi village, was seated at the front of a two-wheeler being driven by his elder sister-in-law, whereas his parents were in the backseat.

Details of the incident

The four of them were reportedly headed to a marriage ceremony at Sakripani village when their two-wheeler collided with the back of a truck in front of them. The impact was so severe that the boy was flung out of the vehicle and thrown onto the back of the truck. He lost his life on the spot.

Jeet’s parents and his sister-in-law sustained critical injuries and lay helpless on the road. Locals rushed to the scene and immediately rescued the injured family members, following which they were taken for primary treatment at Ghassian and subsequently referred to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Bolangir for advanced care.

As of the last reports, the three remain in a critical condition and are undergoing intensive treatment.

Police Investigation Underway

Upon being alerted, Larambha Police reached the accident site and launched an investigation into the circumstances leading to the collision. Preliminary findings suggest that negligence and lack of visibility might have contributed to the crash.

Authorities did not offer any additional comments but stated that an inquiry is ongoing to determine the exact cause.
