Rahas Samal lodges complaint
An elderly man on Monday alleged that his two-and-a-half-year-old grandson has been sold off for Rs 20,000. The shocking incident was reported from Kanapur village under Salepur Police limits in Cuttack district.
As per reports, Rahas Samal’s daughter-in-law had eloped with someone else after leaving her two-and-a-half-year-old son in the care of her parents. So far, six months have passed. Today, Rahas along with some family members visited his daughter-in-law’s house and asked her parents to hand his grandson over to him. Then he came to know that his grandson has been sold off. Subsequently, he lodged a complaint at Salepur police station.
“My daughter-in-law had left my grandson in her house. His uncle has sold off him. When we went there and asked them to hand our grandson over to us, they demanded Rs 20,000 in turn. This led us to smell a rat,” said Rahas.
No comments were received from the parents of Rahas’ daughter-in-law or the police.
