1500 vacant professor posts to be filled up soon; educationists to hire teachers: Odisha Minister

Over 1500 professor posts lying vacant in universities in Odisha will soon be fulfilled, informed Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj on Friday. 

An important meeting was convened to discuss the vacancies in the universities across the state. 

The meeting attended by the Higher Education Minister, Law Minister, former chancellors of various universities and UGC members decided that vacant professor posts would soon be filled up.

According to the 2020 education policy, there was a problem with the appointment of teachers. In today’s meeting, it was decided that educationists, and not the administrators, will assume a pivotal role in appointing teachers.  

“The most important thing that emerged from the meeting is that educationists will play a crucial role in appointing teachers. We will take steps to appoint professors in vacant posts as soon as the legal hurdles are removed,” said Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj.
