A police complaint was lodged on Sunday over alleged stone pelting at the vehicle of Athagarh MLA and Agriculture Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain. The complaint has been lodged at Athagarh Police Station in Cuttack district. 

According to sources, the Minister’s son was returning home in a car after attending a programme. As the vehicle was nearing Radhapatipur square, a miscreant allegedly pelted stones at it. While the driver of the vehicle sustained injuries, it is yet to be ascertained how many occupants were there in the vehicle. After the attack, the driver went straight to the Athagarh Police Station and lodged a police complaint.

It is learned that the vehicle is registered in the name of a private organisation. 

Meanwhile, the police have launched an investigation into the matter. 

When contacted, additional SP of Cuttack, Debadutta Baral said, “We are yet to verify the ownership of the vehicle. We are trying to find out who is the owner of the targeted vehicle, where it went, and where it was returning from.”

“From our preliminary investigation, it is learned that two bike-borne miscreants came from Birakishorepur side and pelted stones at the vehicle. From no angle, it seems to be an accident. It seems to be an intentional act. On the basis of this, we have launched our investigation,” he added.
