In a shocking incident, a man at Patraguda block under Rayagada’s Muniguda block has alleged that he has been falsely branded as a kidney patient by the Odisha government and threatened to go to the police.
The man in question is Sahadev Prasca who claims to be perfectly healthy, but he has been featured in Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha booklet as a beneficiary of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY).
The booklet claimed that Prasca availed the BSKY benefits for his kidney ailments at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. And he now fears that if the government is saying he has used the BSKY money for his kidney treatment, then there will be no money left when he or his family gets actually ill.
Not only the State government booklet, but his pictures have reportely featured in posters and hoardings at the panchayat office too.
“I have never met Naveen Patnaik. How can they print my photo as a BSKY beneficiary? I do not have any kidney ailments. I am being harassed. My family will suffer when they actually get ill. I will go to the block office and to the police to complain about this,” said Prasca.
Asked about the allegations, the Patraguda Sarpanch Shakuntala Nundruka said, “I have no idea about this. Let me ask him (Prasca) and get back to you.”
Similarly, the Rayagada CDMO, Lalmohan Routray said, “I am seeing this for the first time today. I will ask the medical officers at Muniguda to enquire about the matter.”
“As far as his treatment in Bhubaneswar is concerned, only the concerned department at the hospital can refer him to another hospital. It does not need my signature for the same,” he added.
