'Cash for treatment': Video of nurse distributing 'extorted' money at Bolangir hospital goes viral

In a shocking incident, a nurse at the Obstetrics and Gynecology department of Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Bolangir was seen distributing money among other nurses.

The money is suspected to be extorted from the maternity patients admitted there.

The incident came to the fore after the video of the same went viral on social media platforms.

It is pertinent to mention here that, being a State government run hospital, both the outdoor consultation and indoor treatment here is free.

However, the recent purported video of nurses collecting money from maternity patients for their delivery has raised concern from many.

After the video went viral, the hospital authorities transferred the nurse in the video from Obstetrics and Gynecology department to medicine department.

Asked about the purported video, the Superintendent of the medical said that the action against a nurse can only be taken by the CDMO who was not available for comments in this connection.
