Odisha Bizman Held In Chhattisgarh For Smuggling Diamonds

Bhubaneswar: A businessman from Odisha has been arrested by Chhattisgarh police from Gariaband district for allegedly smuggling diamonds worth more than Rs. 25 lakhs.

The accused has been identified as Nutan Patel of Nuapada district.

Acting on a tip off about the diamond smuggling, the police conducted raids in Mainpur area and seized 171 pieces of diamonds from the businessman's possession.

“We have seized 4 big pieces and 167 small pieces of diamonds from the businessman. The approximate value of the seized diamonds will be more than Rs 25 lakhs," said Bhojram Patel, Gariaband assistant superintendent of police.
